LESSON
In this lesson from our Bring Science Alive! Forces and Energy program, students explore the concepts of energy and force by designing a model go-cart.

Three programs examine the principles governing the physical world—forces, energy transfer, wave behavior, and the properties of matter—and how those principles explain the way things move, interact, and change.
Uncover the forces and energy behind everyday motion. Acting as go-cart engineers, drone analysts, and product designers, students investigate real phenomena and build evidence-based arguments about how objects move, how gravity and magnetism act at a distance, and how energy transfers and transforms from one form to another.

Examine what everything around us is made of and how it changes. Working as chemists, materials designers, and survival-gear engineers, students explore atoms and molecules, the states of matter and how they shift, and the chemical reactions that create new substances, through hands-on investigation and evidence.

Investigate how waves carry energy and information through the world. Playing coastal engineers, light artists, and ad designers, students uncover the properties of waves, how light behaves and creates color, and how waves make modern communication possible.

The Reference Text provides students with rich background knowledge and context to support their science investigations. Engaging text weaves in engineering content that connects directly to Unit Storylines and Anchoring Phenomena, helping students think and work like scientists. Also available in Spanish.
The print consumable Interactive Student Notebook provides students a place to record observations, graph data, construct arguments, and more during investigations and engineering challenges. Also available in Spanish.
Bring Science Alive! comes with ready-to-use Materials Kits that support in-class investigations. Kits are thoughtfully organized for ease of use and to reduce waste. If you run low on consumable materials, order a refill kit from TCI's online store.
