Memorial Day Lesson
In honor of the soldiers who have so bravely sacrificed their lives for our country, we are proud to share a lesson that focuses on a case study for their courage: Vietnam. In a moving opening to this lesson, students view placards as if they were at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC and read the name of someone that is similar to themselves. Later in the lesson, students wrestle with the challenge that President Johnson faced in either committing US combat forces or allowing a communist government a foothold in Southeast Asia. This lesson comes from TCI’s History Alive! Pursuing American Ideals. You can find more information about this and other TCI programs at www.teachtci.com .
