TCI Plans to “Bring Science Alive!” With New Inquiry-Based Science Program
Stellar Science Advisory Board and Teachers Nationally Will Guide Development of Program 100-Percent Aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – March 8, 2013 – TCI announced today that it will leverage its more than two decades of experience helping teachers bring learning alive for students to develop a new K-8 science program, Bring Science Alive! Informed by the collective wisdom of the company’s Science Advisory Board, the new curriculum will be built from the ground up to align with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
“The spirit of the NGSS supports TCI’s philosophy that learning happens best when students are actively engaged, not just memorizing facts,” said Bert Bower, TCI founder and CEO. “It was a natural for us to extend our wealth of experience designing inquiry-based social studies programs to science. Our advisory board of top experts in science education encouraged us to focus on science practices and embrace the nature of inquiry inherent in science. Our goal is to develop a curriculum that encourages kids to ask questions and conduct sound investigations to answer them.”
