TCI Internship Program

Interns are an important part of the TCI Team. Our interns work on actual projects, right alongside regular employees. Our interns:

  • Maintain a regular part or full-time schedule.
  • Engage in real world assignments and meet goals and deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with their manager and team members.
  • Attend educational sessions (lunch time speaker events, All Staff & team meetings).
  • Have some fun, ask questions, get involved and learn some new things.

Position Summary

The Database Administrator will work directly with TCI's Controller, Network and Systems Architect, Operations Manager and others to make an impact from day one. A few key projects currently in the works are:

  • Creating seamless integrations between NetSuite, SalesForce, and our own PostgreSQL database to ensure sales, accounting, and support are on the same page
  • Creating reports to understand the usage of up to 1 million students
  • Maintaining and optimizing a cloud based infrastructure

This position is for a driven database administrator who wants to work with a dynamic team that is never satisfied with "good enough".


Job Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL
  • Familiarity with Microsoft and Linux operating systems (Redhat/CentOS flavor preferred)
  • Experience with NetSuite/SalesForce a plus

Department Overview

The software team builds and optimizes tools that actively engage both students and teachers. From seamless classroom presentations to interactive tutorials, this team creates tools that are changing the way social studies and science are taught. As a key member of this team, you will build new features based on customer feedback, optimize systems to support our quickly growing customer base, and pull meaningful data to evaluate customer usage. Position Summary

The Senior Software Engineer will work directly with TCI's team of developers as well as the COO, Network and Systems Architect, Operations Manager and others to make an impact from day one. A few key projects currently in the works are:

  • Performance optimization to support double the current usage in 2015
  • Re-design of internal tools to create 13 new/revised programs scheduled for 2015/2016
  • Refactoring of Analytics code to deepen understanding of customer usage

Customer Communications and Product Support Intern


Job Description

At TCI, we support thousands of teachers and students across the nation. We are looking for Product Support Intern to keep our customers smiling. Our Product Support team works closely with a variety of teams including software, sales, and accounting. This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment working directly with customers while learning about the innovative and rapidly changing educational technology industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer support requests via TCI's ticketing system, UserVoice.
  • Answer customer support phone calls.
  • Pro-actively communicate with customer via social media and System Messages to build excitement for new features and ensure usage of existing features.
  • Suggest improvements to software based on customer feedback and support needs.
  • Update knowledge base to reflect latest releases and customer questions.

Job Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) required
  • Familiarity with PC, Mac, and mobile operating systems
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of browsers including Internet Explorer, FireFox, Chrome, and Safari
  • Software troubleshooting experience a plus

National Account Manager

Title: National Account Manager


Department Summary

The Sales Department is a high-energy team focused on meeting and exceeding both personal and company-wide yearly sales growth. We are responsible for generating revenue from the sales of K-12 social studies and K-5 science book bag. The team is account based and we work nationwide with identified districts in sales and post adoption support. The Team is passionate about bringing engaging TCI programs to classrooms across the nation.


Position Summary

As part of TCI's high-energy sales team, the National Account Manager will work strategically with targeted school districts to identify adoption opportunities for social studies and science curriculum. The National Account Manager will develop relationships with key customers, deliver adoption presentations, conduct orientations, and do online and classroom demonstrations of TCI's Teacher and Student Subscriptions. The primary focus is influencing districts to adopt TCI by sharing your product knowledge and classroom experiences. Travel Required: 40-50%


Location: We are hiring for two locations.

  • Nationwide, from home office
  • California, from home office, with primary travel in California
