TCI Internship Program:

Interns are an important part of the TCI Team. Our interns work on actual projects, right alongside regular employees. Our interns:

  • maintain a regular part-time or full-time schedule.
  • engage in real world assignments and meet goals and deadlines.
  • work collaboratively with their manager and team members.
  • attend educational sessions (lunch time speaker events, All Staff & team meetings).
  • have some fun, ask questions, get involved and learn new things.

Job Description:

  • Writes and edits new and revised content for our social studies programs.
  • Performs photo research under the constraints of our budget.
  • Ensures content meets TCI's high-level of quality and excellence and is grade-level appropriate.
  • Presents revision work at regular meetings and applies feedback received.
  • Performs research for supplemental instruction for lessons.
  • Assists in creation of digital comprehension activities.
  • Loads content into content management system.
  • Works collaboratively with content development group.
  • At least 32 hours per week for minimum of three months, paid internship.

Job Qualifications:

  • Excellent research, writing, and editing skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Interest and background in history a plus.
  • Must work on-site in Mountain View.

Science Editor – Earth Science (Planet Earth)

32 hours/week

Background on the Position:

After over 20 years of focusing on social studies curriculum, TCI has ventured into science. TCI is creating a unique, ambitious science program. It is the first national, complete science program and will include standards-based text, technology, and the TCI lessons our teachers have come to know and love. We're looking for talented experts who love to share their excitement for science and are passionate about making science fun and interesting.


Job Description:

  • Leads on the creation of detailed visual outlines for each lesson.
  • Reviews all student text and works with writer to ensure text adheres to guidelines.
  • Edits student text and ensures it meets TCI's high level of quality and excellence and adheres to editorial checklist.
  • Reviews earth science content as needed and ensures it is scientifically accurate and correct.

Job Qualifications:

  • Earth Science Subject Matter Expert; BA, BS, or MA, or equivalent, science degree, educational related degree. Science teaching experience at middle school level is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach complicated concepts and make them understandable for students.
  • At least 3 years professional experience in the educational publishing industry as an author, editor, or developmental editor of curriculum (preferably at the middle school level).
  • An understanding of NGSS and Framework for K-12 Science highly desired.
  • Exceptional research, writing, and editing skills.
  • Ability to be flexible, multi-task, effectively prioritize and work collaboratively with the team.

Graphic Artist Animator

Job Description:

  • Generates science illustrations with a hand-rendered look.
  • Collaborates directly with science editors to create highly accurate illustrations, graphics, flow charts, and schematics.
  • Assists senior designer in the creation of graphic collateral to be inserted into TCI's proprietary software system.
  • Converts science illustrations into animations.
  • Contributes to TCI's design style guide.
  • Works within a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Job Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Ongoing college enrollment acceptable.
  • Exceptional drawing skills.
  • Ability to be flexible, multi-task, effectively prioritize and work collaboratively with the team.
  • Excellent animation skills and proficient in Autodesk Maya.
  • Interest in science and science education a plus.
