Our History

TCI was founded by a small group of social studies teachers committed to engaging all learners in the diverse classroom.

First program is released (20th Century United States History). First training is sold.

First middle school program is released (World History from 500 to 1700).

TCI enters the basal elementary market (History Alive! America’s Past).

TCI enters the basal middle school market (History Alive! The United States).

TCI enters the California middle school adoption and according to Educational Marketer, ties for first place with 30% of the market share.

TCI enters the basal high school market (Geography Alive! Regions and People).

TCI Academy, the onsite training and consulting division, is formed to provide world-class social studies professional development. For our high school teachers, TCI releases History Alive! Pursuing American Ideals.

TCI releases Government Alive! Power, Politics, and You.

TCI celebrates its 20-year anniversary and releases Econ Alive! The Power to Choose and new editions of the Social Studies Alive! programs for grades K–5. TeachTCI and LearnTCI, available for elementary and high school teachers, mark TCI’s entry to online technology.
